The Ice Cream Truck

Please explain this to me.

Explain to me why the sight of a white truck carrying ice cream sends every kid from 2 to 15 into a Fema-grade panic.

ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!!!!

ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!!!!!

MOM!!!! MOM!!!!!

IT"S THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!! WHERE'S YOUR MONEY???!!!!!!

Dude. We HAVE ice cream at home. In the freezer. Right now. Ben & Jerry's, some Chipwiches and FreezerPops. You never ask for it.

Granted, it's not shaped like a rocket or SpongeBob with gumballs for eyes....

Maybe it's just the novelty of a refreshing treat that travels.

I could kinda see...

HONEY!!!!! HONEY!!!!!!!!!

It's the COCKTAIL TRUCK!

For the love of God, Where's your MONEY??????!!!!!

Every time the GD ice cream man drives down my street I say "I can't believe he isn't selling alcohol"! Wouldn't it be great??!!

Our neighborhood ice cream truck has bells loud enough to wake the dead. Even when we're inside with the windows shut, we can still hear its annoying siren song calling to the kids like the damn Pied Piper. Luckily, though, my kids are still small enough that we can talk loudly over the sound and they won't notice. Bwahahaha.

And btw ... cocktail truck = completely awesome idea!!!

i see a business opportunity here, you in? we could really rack up!! think of all the moms during the summer who would come screaming out to the streets thanking us for the service we provided. and we could just follow the ice cream truck around because where there are kids there are moms willing to buy cocktails!

Tracy said...

Wow! This is a brillant idea that would do so well in my neighborhood.

Also, as a line extension, I'd throw in some pills too...zanax, ambien, cealis, phentermine. You'd really double your profits!

A cocktail truck is an AWESOME idea. I'm pretty sure you'd make millions if you created this. Please let the cocktail truck come to my neighborhood...

I totally want to run a cocktail truck!!!! Great idea -

This totally reminds me of Eddie Murphy's bit about how kids go cuckoo over the ice cream truck. But yeah, that little plinky-plinky music in the distance brings out some Pavlovian thing.

And are the drivers still a bunch of drug dealers? That was always a rumor I could never confirm.

Lindy said...

And seriously? What's with having to cross through yards/streets/war zones to get to the ice cream truck?

If doesn't park his damn thing right outside my driveway....for-get-it.

Stephenie said...

What a great idea! I hope it comes to my neighborhood.

It's the theory of Pavlov's Dog at its finest...

I'd buy.

Think the cocktail truck would let us run a tab? And what music would he play so that we would know he's just around the corner?

The only problem with the cocktail truck, at least in my cul-de-sac, would be that he would A) never be allowed to leave and B)surely always run out. But maybe we could just give him a 20 to drive down to the store and refill and then come back. So all in all it would be kind of fun!

Sue,

Your Peeps have peeped. Cocktail Truck idea is amazing.

It must have a catchy tune so you know it is coming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0rx1srLsh0

Awesome selection of Cocktails...Could feature Cocktail of the Month or Better yet Day!

Munchies or suitable snacks. Possible extension products, Zantac, Xanax, Ambien, Cialis (maybe just stop visiting the cocktail truck....naw), phentermine (snacks will not be a problem then)....but this may get DEA involved, and you know how they drink! I digress.

Porch or platform at the back with Bar stools so Norm, no BG, can sit and greet the neighbourhood....or inflatable blow up pool to act as swim up bar!!!

and come on...Ice Cream.

I'd like a pizza truck, myself. Though I might not have any money left after a couple weeks of it.

Liz said...

So would it be playing "Tequila" over the speakers as it came down the street? Or maybe the Alan Jackson song "It's 5:00 Somewhere"? Oh the possibilities!

Cathie said...

This cocktail truck would have my credit card on file!

Ashley said...

That is the best idea ever!!
I could have used one last night in my Neighborhood!

*sigh* i still love the ice cream truck.

Your Friendly Flight Attendant said...

Wow! Didn't see that coming! I was taking a drink as I read the punch line. I laughed so hard I shot my D.Coke out my nose...and well, that isn't pretty! Unfortunately, I would be the person you described!

Shannon said...

completely unrelated...I just wanted to mention that I finally, but hesitantly saw Twilight and I must say, Edward Cullen is lust-worthy, although he has nothing on my original vampire-loves: the cast of "Lost Boys" (sigh)

I just wanted to say thank you, that was hilarious and soo worth the boss coming and asking "what the hell are you laughing at?". He asks, how much is one of those trucks anyway? I see the potential in that idea...phew.
Got me job for another day.

LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that our ice cream man does sell more than ice cream but I would love for him to sell fruity frozen spiked drinks.

However, I wonder if I would wake up with my bra on the outside of my shirt like I did when I once drank the punch at a fraternity party in college. Supposeably another girl and myself thought it would be funny to channell our inner Madonna and "vogue". I never ever drank the punch again. Strictly warm keg beer!

Wow...great idea. And it could be retrofitted to be a Beer Truck on football Sundays.

'Course the men would send their wives out to the truck so they wouldn't miss a play...
