Crushing on Steve

Yeah, that's right: Steve. From Blues Clues.
See, when your kids are really young and you're not so much a "Stay-at-Home" mom as a "Stuck-at-Home" mom, there is a danger of developing what the psychological community calls Acute Repetitive Exposure Romantic Transference, or ARERT. OK, I made that up. But it is a very real syndrome, in which a mom develops crushes on the only male figures she's exposed to on a daily basis, which usually means preschool programming stars. Now, I know some of you moms are saying "What about Joe?"
I don't know: Technically, I suppose he's the handsomer Blues Clues host, but there's something about him that I don't buy. I think Joe doesn't really care about the clues. I picture him grabbing his ipod and driving off to a kegger when the show's over. Steve, I think, is more intelligent and more sensitive: I picture us sharing some Earl Grey tea and discussing his latest investigative techniques.

Then there's Sportacus.
For any of you who don't Tivo "LazyTown" on a regular basis, Sportacus is the relationship that's purely physical. The guy is a back-flippin' bundle of spandex blue hotness. There would be no Earl Grey drinking with Sportacus, if you know what I'm saying.

My one sister wants to know If Jack Sparrow counts: No. Not Preschool enough. My other sister fessed up to Prince Julian from "Barbie's Princess and the Pauper". Definately, with extra points for being a computer animation.
Now that my youngest is in school all day, I've put that phase behind me, although I will jump in on any "Who's the hottest Jonas Brother" conversation. Answer: Joe, duh.

I'm gonna have to choose the kegger with Joe. Right after I figure out which Wiggle I'd pick if I had 'to do' one (which Babycakes and I actually have discussed before.) Oh, and Eric from The Little Mermaid made my cut. ; ) Great post!

Lmbo!! Steve is the original, Joe killed the show for me 7 years ago!

Right now it's only cartoons for my 2 year old...so between little Leo (just not right he's like 6) and Nemo, a fish.

I like the middle Jonas ;) (ah that just doesn't feel right either, I can be his mom!)

Oh my gosh..so funny. I said something similar about Sportacus to my sister-in-law awhile back. She said she thought he was a little feminine and that I was sad for being attracted to some guy on a kids show...she's right I suppose. *sigh* Shhh..don't tell Hubby...

I love Steve! My sister and I are always disappointed when Joe is on! And plus he doesn't even really draw!

We do watch it with my 5 year old niece, we're not weird or anything...

Ha ha, this is funny! I'd pick Steve over Joe any day. Although, "you found a shoe? You heard a cow moo? A train goes choo-choo? Oh, you see a CLUE!" grated on my nerves a bit.

I'll have you know I couldn't help but think of this post watching "Blue's Clues" this morning. I kind of was wondering if Joe didn't branch into hallucinogenics...

I've had a mom crush on Steve for years! My oldest is 9, and I remember wishing Steve could come over for a playdate. So cute! Have you seen him lately with his buzzed head and his Flaming Lips music? (I think that's the band...) I never liked Joe.

Hey, have you seen Johnny and the Sprites? I like Johnny, too.

Totally agree with Steve and Joe (Jonas)- my kids like Nick, though- just another way I think I'm cool, but completely out of touch.

Oh, I'm not alone.
Thank God.

Maybe she's on to something...

hahaha...so funny
I prefer Steve to Joe any day...Whatever happened to him anyway...didn't he go to college?

Steve is definitely more my type. I can't believe I just typed that!

What, no Greg from the Wiggles? Or Johnny from Johnny and The Sprites??? This is the second post I've read about mama's crushin on Steve...I think Joe is cuter. But you're right, he's definitely hitting the kegger with Stephanie from Lazytown after he ditches Boris and the striped sweater.

Well this is easy for me...I love Steve (Steve is my fiance's name) and can't stand Joe (my ex-husbands name was Joe). Ironic isn't it?!

I loved Steve, and when he went off to college on that last episode, I was in tears..seriously. Joe, well he is hot in the sense that I want to get a piece of ass hot..but he seems so fake. Steve is genuine and compassionate and sensitive and, and..
ok I'll stop now..at least I have some old vhs tapes of Steve..sigh...
what ever happened to him anyway?

Steve Burns is HOT! He was hot in his Blue's Clues pajamas and slippers and even hotter now as a musician. If I had to choose a character from one of the current kid’s shows I'd choose Muno from Yo Gabba Gabba that RC introduced me to. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

I didn't know who the Jonas boys were and had to look them up. All of them are a little girly as far as I'm concerned. My kids are a couple years older so we listen to different music and watch different shows. Ladies? It gets even better!

I was totally in love with Steve. Now I'm kind of into Craig on Degrassi 101.

Howdy...I'm blog hopping today and ran across this post.

I love it!

I'm still stuck in Noggin Land....so I have to agree....I would rather hang out with Steve, don't know what it is about Joe. Is that his real hair, cause it kind of looks like a wig.

Yes, Sportacus would be fun...except he wouldn't feed me chocolates!!!

I have always been a little hot for Anthony from the Wiggles....maybe it is because Steve and Joe don't dance!!

You crack me up...love your blog!!

Darnit!! I SO would've picked Jack Sparrow ;)

lol - hey - drop by the new place when you get a chance? Would LOVE to see you over there :D

Steve is the best, fo sho. Hey, great blog. Glad I stumbled across it!

While personally partial to the gravity-defying Sportacus, (have you seen that dude's split jumps??!!) my sister still catches crap from her hubby for the following incident:
After a "Wiggles" concert in Atlanta, my sister happens to spot the band headed toward their tour bus. She proceeds to roll down the passenger window of her mini-van (which is being driven by her hubby, and has her 3 young children in the back) and scream out "ANTHONY!!!!" like a love-crazed "Beatles" fan. Uh, yeah. We are still pretty concerned.

My boys don't watch "Blues Clues" much (and have never seen Jonas Brothers). I'm stuck with Thomas the Tank Engine, and by golly, Sir Topham Hatt just doesn't cut it...

I'm kidding by the way! I do have a crush on Greg Wiggle...it's the only way I can stomach that show!! I'm bummed he's not able to be on it anymore. :(

Oh yes...Sportacus is a definate hottie. And then have you seen the pics of Steve now days? Wow...definately not the green striped shirt wearing goofball anymore!! He's kinda hot! Google him. Steven Burns. Whew.

I'm with ya on the Jonas Brothers--Joe is a cutie!

Have you seen Jackson on Hannah Montana? He's cute (for my daughter) but I'll go with daddy Cyrus. :)

I totally get it...I had a little Steve crush myself back in the day.

Now I'm all about Josh from Drake and Josh. Not fat young Josh, but the older last season, thin Josh.

Oh my lord! This is the first blog that I've read that's got me *for real* LOL!! I totally had the hots for Steve when my kids were little. Enter Joe. Yeah. Not so much. I agree. He didn't care enough about the clues. I was heartbroken when Steve went off to college. But, hey, check him out now. He's a way cool indie rocker!! Have you seen that little smigit he does on one of the kid's channels about the ground hog and ground bit? It's adorable. What about Dan Zane from Disney. Gotta love that bed head...

I'm adding you to my page. You're a scream!
