Super Sunday

The drama has already started at my house
regarding this Sunday's face-off.

No, not football.
HBO's "Big Love" and Showtime's "The L Word".....

BOTH Season premieres...are on at the same time.

If you ask my husband, Big Love is the apex of cable-television viewing.

Do not get him started about Big Love. Especially if you don't watch the show. Because he will try and sell you with detailed episode recaps til you just wish you had stayed home.

Big Love is the crown jewel of his Y chromosome pay-cable trifecta, rounded out with Entourage and Californication.

While I enjoy Big Love, I ***Puffy Heart*** The L Word. I love it, love it, love it.

The L Word girls are all gorgeous and glamorous and they have fabulous jobs but still have time to lounge around in cafes sipping lattes and they're so.........so.........so........
not washing anybody's socks.

By the way, the irony has not escaped me that his show is about über-heterosexuality to the third power, and my show is completely void of men.

I do rethink polygamy now and then, though,  when I see the Big Love wives all getting nights off from cooking and cleaning.  I might be able to get behind that program.

If I did, here would be my requirements for my 'sister wives':

#1) You can't be skinnier than me.

#2) You have to love drinking & dancing.

#3) You should be reasonably obsessed with Twilight.

#4) Sunday nights: Showtime, The L Word.

Sign-ups start today. :)

  4. I have to side with hubby on this one. I LOVE Big Love. But I am a fat drinker/dancer that can pop a mean bowl of popcorn. Am I qualified?

  9. we don't have showtime or hbo! i was happy to have tv shows in english, but i must admit that hgtv is getting a little old. and it's making me depressed at how undecorated/boring my house is. i need some new shows!

  10. I'm pretty sure I meet all your qualifications except that I've never seen The L Word. Can I still be considered? I think my #3 totally makes up for my lack of #4.

  12. I will totally be your sister wife! And then I'll tell you all about "Mad Men" - your soon-to-be-next-favorite-show! (We can drink and dance during the commercials...)

Will you teach me about Twilight, sister-wife?

  19. I love both! I can't convince Hubby to like either! I keep pushing him to rent it one weekend and he fails me every time!

  22. Over from SITS!

Okay...you are absolutely hilarious! I have been sitting her laughing at all your posts....whew!! Thanks for that!

Um...I have never seen Big Love or the L Word...we are too cheap for the premium cable channels. But..I definitely meet your first and second criteria for the sister wife thing. I mean...I can REALLY drink and REALLY dance :-)

I'll be back for some more laughs!

  23. I can deal with these requirements.
    May I sign-up?

  24. I haven't seen L Word, I guess I need to check it out. Your husband and mine watch all the same shows...and he loves them, but only by DVR around the football game schedule.

  25. My requirements--Must love laundry and must love cleaning liter boxes ;)
    Takers?

  26. MY sister-wives would have to be willing to pick up after themselves, their own children, my children, and our husband, because I'm tired of that. Also? They'd have to need less sleep than I do because I'm feeling seriously sleep-deprived right now. I don't think I'm making this sound very appealing am I? Your deal sounds better. :)

  28. I was so obsessed with The L Word until the traumatic day I cancelled our premium cable subscription. Must now click on over to Netflix to get reaquainted with my (ok, our) girls. Maybe I'll check out Big Love while I'm at it.

I think it would be an easy sell getting your husband to watch The L Word, though... from what I remember, lots of boobs.

  29. Yeah, watching "The L Word" would DEFINITELY make my hubby wonder...I guess since it's the last season I will have to check out the DVDs. I remember on the first season that cute blonde's cool haircut...short in back and long on the sides in front...so many chicks have that style now...(see profile photo--->>>)
