When I first saw this I was like, "is this for real?" then I totally thought he was going to eat them. If you want to know more of the history, go to you tube, put in lion and in the side bar there are like 5 or 6 different 10 minute videos about getting him to africa, letting him go, etc... It's heartbreaking in a zillion ways!
I can see where everyone though (including me) that the guy was going to be dinner...did you hear about that guy that was studying bears and the last movie he shot he was a mansicle?
The bear story is true...they made a movie about it called Grizzly Man. From IMDB:
"For thirteen consecutive summers, the American Timothy Treadwell moved to Katmai in the Alaskan Peninsula to live among the grizzly bears, with the pretext of studying and protecting them. In 2003, his girlfriend Amie Huguenard and he were surprisingly attacked and eaten by a bear."
Which just goes to show ya, Mother Nature is a twisted ol' gal.
that is sweet! I've watched a documentary on Grizzly Man and he was fascinated by the bears, but he didn't raise them- I'll say it again- nurture vs nature.
I love this one!!! Just when I think that it's gonna get all sigfred and roy it turns into a love story-truly classic!!!! What's with the hairdos on those guys though-mabye the lion thought they were members of their tribe???

I'm with the ones who thought it was a joke and those people were going to get mauled. I had the cursor positioned on the "x" button and my hand at the mouse, ready to avoid traumatizing my children forever.
I know this comment is on a really old post, but I just found your blog and am reading the archives. That video was just so sweet. I remember watching a documentary about this and I was shocked to see that Christian still remembered them. Makes me tear up every time!

I saw this the other day....it was great! Hubby had me look it up on snoops because he didn't believe it was true. It totally is!
